Kamarpara Urban Health & Wellness Centre (UHWC) was inaugurated on Friday at Kamarpara, Mahendraganj, under Zikzak C&RD Block in South West Garo Hills.
Mahendraganj MLA Sanjay A Sangma during his inaugural speech expressed his appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the medical team. He acknowledged the commendable progress made in various health initiatives and stated that this development has inspired him to work closely with the health team.
Sangma said the establishment of the UHWC in such a densely populated area will greatly benefit the local community by providing emergency and essential healthcare services within a walkable distance. He also urged the newly appointed staff to actively engage with the community and coordinate with the District team and District Health Society to ensure the effective functioning of the centre.
DMHO Dr. H Barman highlighted the necessity of a healthcare facility in the locality and elaborated on the wide range of health services that the centre will offer to the surrounding villages. He reiterated the commitment of the health department to enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality in the region.
SDRC Chairman Clement Momin, the Gaonbura, Village Health Council (VHC) members, local leaders, members of the medical fraternity, and the community were present on the occasion.
