Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy has assured to take up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for peace talks with the outlawed Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
Reddy gave the assurance to Meghalaya Health Minister A L Hek in New Delhi today.
Hek also gave to Reddy a copy of the letter he wrote earlier to Amit Shah requesting for peace talks with the HNLC as the banned outfit had expressed its readiness to come to the negotiating table.
“Reddy has assured to seriously take up this issue with Modi and Shah since the NDA government at the Centre is interested for peace in the country,” Hek said.
It may be mentioned that HNLC had repeatedly in the past expressed its desire to have peace talks with the Central government.
