A meeting of the United Democratic Party (UDP), which met today at Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, has decided to call for applications from candidates willing to contest the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) polls.
General Secretary Jemino Mawthoh said that the last date for receiving applications will be February 23.
“And we have entrusted all the district presidents and secretaries of the five districts of Garo Hills to send their applications to the district presidents or the special committee members in charge of the election or to the General Secretary of the party,” Mawthoh said.
The meeting at Williamnagar was attended by UDP President and Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh, Mawthoh and other prominent leaders from Khasi and Garo Hills.
The GHADC election will be held on April 9.
