To commemorate its 26-year journey, the United Democratic Party (UDP) today distributed essential commodities to a children’s home in Mawsyntai, Ri-Bhoi.
The UDP was created in 1997 under former Chief Minister, the late EK Mawlong.
During the statewide observation of the anniversary, the RI-Bhoi unit of the UDP marked the day by spending quality time with the children in Mawsyntai and handed over essential items to the caretaker.
The delegation of the UDP was led by Nongpoh MDC Balajied Rani, the party’s district general secretary Micheal Kharhunai, president of the youth wing L Marngar and others.
Rani expressed immense happiness to have celebrated the 26th anniversary with the orphans, adding that the UDP appreciates the untiring efforts of the Ri-Bhoi Presbyterian Synod, which has served the needs of the children through the home.
