Two youths were assaulted in two separate areas within the city on New Year ’s day, police said.
In the first incident, a 23-year-old youth, Deva Kharkongor was brutally attacked and stabbed in both the eye and the ribs.
Kharkongor sustained grave injuries during the assault. He was stabbed with a pair of scissors, causing a deep wound on the left side of his ribs and severe damage to his right eye.
The incident occurred at around 9:38 pm in the Shillong Cantonment area.
An FIR has been lodged by the family as Kharkongor has been admitted to NEIGRIHMS hospital for medical treatment.
One Saidin Ali was named as the alleged attacker.
In another incident, a 31 year old man was reportedly assaulted by unknown miscreants.
Manoj Sharma was found lying unconscious in Nongmensong market. He was taken to Civil Hospital Shillong for medical treatment.
