Two women were arrested with 1.16 kilograms of heroin from Madanrting by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) team.
East Khasi Hills superintendent of police, Sylvester Nongtnger said that the seizure was made after information was received that a consignment of drugs trafficked from Myanmar was delivered to a person staying at Madanrting.
Yesterday, the team along with police from Madanrting conducted a search and recovered 101 soap boxes (66 soap boxes kept inside a purple colour bag and 35 soap boxes kept inside a carton box), he said.
“All the soap boxes contained heroin which was confirmed by a preliminary test,” Nongtnger added.
He said the two women (names not provided) have been arrested under the NDPS Act and investigation is on to nab others involved in the racket.
