The Meghalaya government has released Rs 60 crore to pay two-months pending salaries of SSA teachers and awaits centre’s aid to pay another four months salaries.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui told reporters today that the two-month wage bill was released on March 29. He said the State Education Mission Authority of Meghalaya (SEMAM) has done the needful and has released and distributed to the respective districts.
Rymbui also informed that the central government will be releasing Rs 68 crore which will help in paying four-month salaries to the SSA teachers.
A total of 12, 541 SSA school teachers in the State SSA teachers have not received their wages since October.
