The East Khasi Hills district unit of the Trinamool Congress has hit back at Chief Minister Conrad Sangma who is also the NPP national president for his recent remarks on the MYE Youth Card and WE Card.
Sangma had recently termed the two financial inclusion schemes launched by Trinamool Congress for the youth and womenfolk as ‘baaki cards’.
Slamming the chief minister for the remarks, the East Khasi Hills district unit of the Trinamool Congress said that Sangma should rather ask for an audit and accountability of the funds channeled under the FOCUS and FOCUS Plus through various sources.
“A community or household struggling to get even two square meals a day under the current belligerent government cannot become prosperous with just doles of unaccounted cash of Rs 5000 or Rs 10,000, and neither will two piglets or two chickens change their fortunes overnight,” the party said.
“It is funny that the NPP seems to be taking advantage of its numerical superiority by disbursing schemes at the end of five years without consulting its partners who keep saying that the chief minister is behaving as if the schemes are only his party’s achievement,” it added.
The East Khasi Hills district unit of the Trinamool Congress also said that the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal in 2017 had received the United Nations’ appreciation and recognition for its state empowerment scheme to young girls under Kanyashree Program and recently its single window umbrella services to public under its ‘Duware Sarkar” a door to door campaign by its party workers in delivering government services to the last man, “unlike the NPP which instead of financially improving the state economy seems busy laying foundation stones and promising the moon to the people”.
“The NPP should know that it’s in its last days and people will give their verdict after all the five years of troubles endured. We strive towards empowering the weaker sections of society who have been deprived off their rights and justice towards good governance unlike the NPP led-government that has become a ‘Looterawala Sarkar’ at the fag end,” the East Khasi Hills district unit of the Trinamool Congress said.
