Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Shillong, supported by the Zila Sainik Office, Meghalaya, and in association with Metallica-Sargam Sports and Cultural Club and Meghandini Mahila Samiti, organised a tree plantation drive yesterday.
The event took place to mark the ‘Mera Mitti, Mera Desh’ programme at the Short Round LP School, Lawmali, here.
The chief guest during the occasion was NYKS Meghalaya director Atul Nikkam with the guest of honour being NYKS Meghalaya deputy director Donvan Rapsang.
Tree saplings were planted in the Forest Colony area and a soil sample was also collected that, with those from other parts of the state, will be sent to New Delhi.
