The District Magistrate of West Garo Hills passed an order today prohibiting the plying of intra-district public transport, such as buses and maxi cabs, in view of the prevalence of Covid-19 in the district and elsewhere.
However, local auto-rickshaws are allowed to ply with a limited number of passengers on an odd-even basis.
Private vehicles are also allowed on the road on an odd-even basis for local transport, but, bizarrely, “on emergency only”.
