A 24-year-old transgender was arrested on charges of stabbing a youth at Khyndailad.
Zecharaiah Sohthiang (25) was stabbed on the night of March 18.
Police had informed that Sohthiang had come up with an inconsistent and confusing story about how he had come to be stabbed one night over the last weekend. In the end, he admitted to investigators that he had been stabbed by a woman in Police Bazaar.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger today informed that the prime suspect is a transgender and was apprehended last evening.
He said the pen knife used in the commission of the offence was also recovered and seized. The accused person has been arrested and produced before Court on Friday, he added.
