The four-day training programme on “How to Start a Business” conducted by IIM, Shillong, Incubation and Enterprise Support Centre (IESC) in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Ladies Organisation (FLO) ,Sleepwell Foundation and McLead Certifications concluded here yesterday.
The chief guest for the valedictory function was Meghalaya cabinet minister James Sangma who in his speech appreciated the initiative of the organisers in successfully conducting this training and highlighted the fact that Meghalaya being a matrilineal society, the training of women to lead the entrepreneurship movement in the State was very significant.
He also emphasised on the need to develop the eco-system to bring about all round development. He added that the state government was working towards creating a positive environment by bringing about an entrepreneurial mind set through targeted interventions at the school level itself.
The Director of the IIM Shillong Prof D P Goyal spoke about the need to become job creators instead of being job seekers and how such type of training would lay the base for Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
Prof Chandrasekhar, CEO of McLead Certifications gave an overview of the training and said it included topics like , Introduction to Business, SWOT Analysis, Entrepreneurship, Steps to Choose Right Business, Market Research, Business Plan, Formation of a Business Entity, Registration and Legal Requirements, How to get Funds for the Business, Information Technology and digital Marketing etc.
Jahnabi Phukan, National President of FLO expressed her happiness about the programme and informed that her organisation has started a number of initiatives in Meghalaya, and a few projects had recently started in the East Khasi Hills.
Namita Gautam, Managing Trustee of Sleepwell Foundation said that they had a number of specialised programmes for development and aiding start-ups and was keen to work in the North East.
Prof Sanjeeb Kakoty, Chairman of the IESC expressed his optimism that the synergy between policy makers, academia, Industry and budding entrepreneurs would certainly help the north east to not only develop at a fast pace but also reclaim the position of being among the top performers, a position that undivided Assam enjoyed during the time of India’s independence.
