In view of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit, vehicular movement will be stopped at several junctions in the city on January 19.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said there will be certain inconveniences in various places and on the route to be taken by the VVIP.
While only one-way traffic will be allowed to ply during the movement, public vehicles have been asked not to overtake and maintain lane driving.
Emergency service vehicles will be allowed to ply and will be facilitated, he added.
The Union Home Minister will be in the city to chair the one-day plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC).
DONER Minister G Kishan Reddy who is also the vice chairman of NEC and DONER Minister of State B L Verma including senior officers of DONER Ministry and NITI Aayog will take part in the plenary.
All governors and chief ministers of North East states including chief secretaries and other senior officers will participate in the plenary besides heads of Assam Rifles, NEEPCO, NHIDCL, NEDFi, NERCORMS, NERAMAC, NEHHDCL, NESAC and NIC.
