Tourists have begun returning to Meghalaya following the reopening of the state to visitors from today.
According to the rules set out by the state government, day-trippers are not allowed; tourists from outside Meghalaya must spend at least one night in a hotel, guest house, etc.
Despite the restrictions, visitors from Assam wasted no time in coming back to Meghalaya for the beauty of nature and to escape the heat of the plains.
This was exactly the reason given by one tourist from Assam, who was here to see Umiam and Sohra.
