Jowai MDC Andrew A Shullai MLAs staged a walkout from the session of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) today in protest against non-inclusion of a motion to discuss implementation of e-governance and digitisation of the district council.
While the JHADC Chairman Sanki Shangpung informed the member that the motion was not included for a discussion since it was already implemented, the TMC MDC was unhappy stating that e-governance has never functioned that even the website of the JHADC is not up to date.
The one-day summer session of the JHADC today lasted for 50 minutes.
Besides the question hour, JHADC CEM Thombor Shiwat also tabled the official report and informed the house that two officers of the district council, H. Parien and D. Pohchen were promoted as the Deputy Chief Forest Officer and Chief Executive and Administrative Officer respectively.
The JHADC also paid tributes to the departed MDCs, Saron Ksoo and Philemon Lyngdoh.
