The Trinamool Congress held a general party meeting today followed by a massive membership drive in Kharkutta in the presence of leader of the opposition, Dr Mukul Sangma.
Other members present at the event were Rongrong MDC Rinaldo K Sangma, Williamnagar MDC Alphonsush R Marak and Damas MDC Pardinand D Shira.
The entire TMC leadership encouraged the public to participate in its ‘Be The Change’ campaign and extend their support to the party to help them get rid of what the TMC calls the proxy BJP government in Meghalaya.
Earlier this month, TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee kickstarted the party’s membership drive in Shillong. Today’s event began the membership drive in Garo Hills.
Addressing a large crowd, ex-Chief Minister Dr Sangma slammed the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government for largely ignoring the plight of teachers in the state. “Conrad Sangma’s move of pacifying SSA teachers by granting them a minimal financial raise just ahead of the elections exposes the true intention of the MDA government,” he said.
