The Trinamool Congress (TMC) constituted its Nongstoiñ unit today with the joining of 326 people at the grassroots level.
TMC vice-president Himalaya Shangpliang and James Lyngdoh were present on the occasion.
With the Congress all but wiped out in the Assembly, the TMC is practically the only remaining opposition force left.
“This is the only part that is fighting the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and the communal forces. I aim to promote and strengthen secular parties,” TMC Nongstoin block president Macmillan Kharbani said.
Kharbani is one of 10 office bearers in the TMC Nongstoin block. There are also 70 executive members.
