Three persons were severely injured after they were struck by lightning at Miangshang village in Maw-eit area of West Khasi Hills.
According to reports, the incident occurred today at around 9:30 am.
The lightning first struck Pynbianglin Ryntong while she was washing the utensils at her house. Ryntong is a student of Class 6 at Deising Social Welfare School, Nongsba.
Immediately, family members informed doctors at Maw-eit CHC and requested for an ambulance to take her to the hospital.
While the family members were waiting for the ambulance, lightning struck three of them. They include the girl’s paternal uncles Raphael Thyrniang, Albert Kharjahrin and Hector Marshiangbai who became unconscious.
All the four were rushed to Nongstoiñ Civil Hospital for treatment.
Later, due to serious injuries Ryntong, Thyrniang and Marshiangbai were shifted to NEIGHRIMS, Shillong. However, Kharjahrin is being treated at Nongstoiñ Civil Hospital.
Relatives of the victims have appealed for financial help for the injured as they are very poor.
Meanwhile, UHM West Khasi Hills has requested people to come forward and donate for the victims in order to meet their hospital expenditures.
