Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today welcomed the support of the five Congress MLAs towards his government’s programme.
“The five wish to support the MDA (Meghalaya Democratic Alliance) to strengthen the government’s aims and their joint effort will take the state forward in the general interest of its citizens and the MDA thanks them for their support,” Conrad said.
He was speaking after welcoming a former Congressman, Limison Sangma, the ex-MLA of Raksamgre into the National People’s Party. Limison resigned from the Congress yesterday and joined the NPP with some of his supporters today.
“I am sure that with his entry into the party, the NPP will grow from strength to strength not only in Raksamgre constituency but the whole of Garo Hills region and Meghalaya state as a whole,” Conrad told reporters.
He also hinted that several political leaders from Khasi-Jaiñtia Hills will join his party in the coming days.
