The Indian Railways is targeting to complete work for the Tetelia-Byrnihat railway line by March 2023.
This was stated by Anshul Gupta, General Manager, North East Frontier (NF) Railway yesterday during interaction with media persons in Guwahati.
According to Gupta, the physical progress on the Tetelia-Byrnihat railway line with a length of 21.50 Km was 90 per cent.
He also said that the budget allocation in 2021-22 for the Tetelia-Byrnihat railway line is Rs 101 crore.
Among New Line projects, Sivok – Rangpo railway project (44.96 kms) in Sikkim has been allocated Rs 1100 crore, and Agartala – Akhaura project in Tripura has been allocated Rs 300 crore.
Other ongoing New Line projects like Jiribam – Imphal in Tripura has been allocated Rs 1000 crore, Bairabi – Sairang project in Mizoram has also been allocated Rs 1000 crore and Dimapur – Zubza project in Nagaland has been allocated Rs 800 crore.
Pressure groups in Meghalaya have opposed the construction of railway line from Byrnihat to Shillong on grounds of influx.
They have also stated that the railway project can take off only after Inner Line Permit (ILP) was implemented in the State.
