Mawlai MDC Teiborlang Pathaw will be the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for the 2023 Assembly election.
This was announced as Pathaw was formally welcomed into the party by NPP president and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma here today.
Pathaw had resigned from the United Democratic Party a few days ago. At the time, he said it was because a section of UDP members in Mawlai wanted the 2023 ticket to be given to the sitting MLA Process Sawkmie, who has been suspended by the Congress.
Also present at the function to welcome Pathaw were Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, cabinet minister Sniawbhalang Dhar and other MLAs and MDCs.
“He is someone who needs no introduction. He is a person who believes in the youth and that their issues can be resolved. He is not somebody who comes and gives lectures and tells you that we will resolve unemployment, he is resolving it even before giving speeches,” Sangma said of the NPP’s new member.
