A teenager was declared ‘dead’ due to Covid-19 by the Health Department when he still undergoing treatment in the Shillong Civil Hospital for the virus.
The family members of Stanborlang Dohtdong (18), a resident of Byrwa village in Ri Bhoi district, were alarmed and shocked after they saw his name amongst those who succumbed to the coronavirus issued by the Health Department on Friday.
A relative of the patient, Ridamon Dohtdong told Highland Post that they were disheartened and shocked when they saw the name of Stanborlang in one of the local dailies today and immediately called up the attendant, who informed that he was still in ICU undergoing treatment.
Ridamon slammed the department and said that such irresponsible acts have hurt their sentiments. “We do not trust the health authorities anymore and we will soon ask them to discharge Stanborlang.”
Rangbah Shnong of Byrwa, KW Shylla has sought an apology and clarification from the department and that the Shillong Civil Hospital has to provide proper medical to the teenager.
In yesterday’s Covid update, the health department had declared Stanborlang dead due to Covid-19 pneumonia with comorbidities. It said that he was admitted on July 22 and died the same day.
