A 17-year-old girl in North Garo Hills was bludgeoned to death, allegedly by her stepfather, today afternoon.
While details of the grisly crime remain sketchy, the suspect managed to flee the scene after the murder. Police have launched a manhunt to locate him.
Sources within the police informed that the man was alleged to have sexual assaulted the teenager multiple times. However, confirmation of this might only arrive once the post-mortem report is made available.
“He killed his daughter and then fled the scene of the crime before he could be apprehended. A search for the suspect is currently on and we are hopeful for a breakthrough in this case,” said Superintendent of Police, Abraham T Sangma.
