The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued today has declared the RP Chest Hospital Road, opposite Crematorium, Mawbah here as a containment area so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit on the site.
The containment area has the demarcations of the house of Ravi Marbaniang in the North, house of Aparna Sharma in the East, house of Arati Bhavan in the South and TB Hospital Road in the West.
The order was issued in view of the report received from the Incident Commander Zone-IV and the Medical Officer in-charge Zone-IV that there is a surge of Covid-19 positive cases in RP Chest Hospital Road and in order to prevent further transmission among the susceptible population, early detection through active house to house (H-T-H) search for persons with symptoms, persons with co-morbidities and contact tracing of the high-risk and low-risk contacts is required and further, for effective house to house (H-T-H) surveillance, complete containment of the area is required to ensure people stay indoors during the active search of cases.
The order also states that no persons are allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within this area shall not move out, besides all the inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their homes.
Meanwhile, due to the detection of positive Covid-19 cases/high risk contacts which requires contact tracing, testing and isolation to be effected in the interest of the health of the general public to prevent against any possible spread of the pandemic, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in orders issued today has declared the PWD Quarter No-49 at Barik, Quarter No. E-6 of Survey of India, Barik, house of H Wankhar of Lawsohtun Block-2, and the top floor of the house of Aroma Shullai, New Kench’s Trace behind Sankardev College as micro-containment areas so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit on the site.
