Dr S Khonglah, the Additional District and Medical Health Officer of East Khasi Hills, today informed that there is a hesitancy issue among youngsters between the ages of 15 and 18 to get the Covid-19 vaccination.
Nationally, the Covaxin jab made by Bharat Biotech is being used to immunise children in this age bracket.
Out of 68,508 youngsters, only 16,210 have had the vaccine so far, she said, adding, “Some are saying that they are going through examinations, so we will wait to see if this improves afterwards.”
She stressed that people should not forget that the coronavirus pandemic is not over just because cases have subsided and protection is a must, including following Covid protocols.
