Shillong, Sep 26: The office of the District Medical and Health Officer of East Khasi Hills today organised a special programme under the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) at Smit PHC as part of the ongoing nationwide campaign.
The programme was graced by Shillong MP Ricky AJ Syngkon. Nongkrem MLA Ardent M Basaiawmoit, Nongkrem MDC Kitbor Syiem and others were also present.
Delivering the inaugural address, Syngkon said, “The health of women is central to the well-being of every family. A healthy mother means healthy children and a stronger society. Through this campaign, the government seeks to ensure early detection and timely treatment so that families do not suffer due to fear or delay. Health is wealth, and good health is the foundation for a better economy and future.”
In his remarks, Basaiawmoit emphasised, “Health for all has long been our goal, but it begins with individual responsibility. We must not fear knowing our health status, early detection saves lives. I also encourage our youth to actively participate in blood donation, which is a noble service to society.”
Earlier, Dr AJU Kharkud, District Medical & Health Officer, and Dr C Iangrai, Joint Director of Health Services (MCH&FW), spoke on the objectives of the Abhiyaan, underlining its role in strengthening public health outreach through integrated medical camps, blood donation drives and awareness programmes.
