The two-day symposia and panel discussion on “Prospects and Challenges of Teacher Education in light of NEP 2020” concluded today at the Shillong Club.
The symposia was organized by the College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong which was participated by principal of colleges and schools, faculty members from DERT, DIETS as well as colleges.
All the speakers collectively stressed on the need for professionalism with a humane approach, critical thinking and sought for collective efforts of all stake holders in education including the government both at the centre and the state to help uplift the standard of education.
Dr B. H. Buam, co- convener of the programme in her speech gave an overview of the various sessions at the two day programme.
The two day programme had insightful talks and presentations delivered by eminent academicians such as Dr. G.D. Sharma (President, SEED), Prof. Dr. Md. Akthar Siddiqui (Jamia Millia Islam University, New Delhi), Prof. Sudhanshu Bhushan ( HOD Higher Professional Education NUEPA),Dr. Vijay Kumar( Former Regional Director , ERC, NCTE, New Delhi),Dr. S. Mani(Professor, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai)Prof. S. M. Sungoh (Professor, Department of Education, NEHU)and Prof C. Nongbri (Dean, School of Education, NEHU).
The panel discussion on “Challenges of Implementation of NEP 2020 in Teacher Education” was moderated by former MLA, Manas Chaudhuri.
