Shillong, Mar 12: Three residents from the South West Khasi Hills district have brought pride to the state by receiving national recognition during the Jal Mahotsav 2026 held in New Delhi.
Elitamarry Lyngdoh from Jashiar village has secured the first position for her outstanding work in FTK-based water quality monitoring and surveillance. Her dedication to ensuring safe drinking water for the community demonstrates the importance of local efforts in maintaining public health.
Alongside Elitamarry, Spiland Jyrwa, the headman of Pyndendiwah, also achieved first place as a distinguished headman for his vital role in strengthening the rural piped water supply system. Additionally, Archemedes Nongrem, the headman of Nongdewsaw village, received the second position for the excellence of his village’s 24×7 rural water supply service.
Their achievements highlight the district’s commitment to rural water supply initiatives and community participation, inspiring others to work towards sustainable and safe drinking water for all.
