Incessant rains in many areas of South West Khasi Hills since June 15 till today have loosened the soil and may lead to landslides.
According to District Disaster Management Officer, Dr. E S Langshiang, today at around 6 am a house was totally destroyed by a landslide at Manad village.
Further, the road connecting Wahrngi and Langwarai was washed away by flood. A public footpath at Pdengshnong Presbyterian Church was also destroyed by flood waters.
Meanwhile, the Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Umdohlun Circle has informed that many villagers have been affected by landslides in Mariem, Umdohlun, Wahkaji, Warsanlyngdoh and Phlangdiloiñ.
It also informed that subways for two under-construction bridges at Rangblang area have also been washed away by floods resulting in hardship for people especially those in medical emergencies.
