The A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM), Rongjeng regional unit has expressed concern over the shoddy construction of the Milawe to Baringre road in East Garo Hills district.
The road, constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), has unfortunately not met the prescribed quality benchmarks, AHAM in a complaint to the PWD executive engineer in Williamnagar said.
For several months, spanning approximately three to four months, the villagers have persistently lodged complaints against the contractor, yet there has been no discernible action taken to address these issues, the organisation said.
“The subpar craftsmanship exhibited by the appointed contractor is disconcerting, given the project’s criticality. Despite repeated grievances filed by said organisation and the local populace, tangible enhancements in construction quality remain elusive. The road’s present condition is not merely unsatisfactory but also a source of anguish for the community,” AHAM said in the complaint.
The organisation said the office should immediately intervene to so as to realise the project’s objective of bolstering rural infrastructure.
