Hundreds and students and teachers from around 40 different institutes participated in a youth convention organised to commemorate the 122nd anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Shillong.
The event was also organised at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre today is also part of the 125th anniversary celebration of Ramakrishna Mission.
Students from far flung areas including Mylliem, Sohra and Sobhar joined the programme. Fifteen selected speakers from amongst the participating institutes spoke on different topics pre-allotted to them. A group discussion also was conducted, in which each and every one participated enthusiastically.
Pullela Gopichand, Chief national coach for the India national badminton team deliberated and also interacted with the participants. There was an interactive session with the resource persons, and meaningful questions were asked by the students on various topics like concentration, leadership qualities and others.
Swami Achyuteshanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar, Arunachal Pradesh, and Swami Hitakamananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong and former Director General of Police B K Dey Sawian motivated the students through their inspirational speech.
A cultural programme was also organised at the event o showcase the rich culture and tradition of the State.
