Five houses were destroyed by a severe storm in East Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills today.
A house was destroyed by a storm today at Thainthynroh village in Lyngïong area of Mawphlang Community and Rural Development Block.
The house which belonged to Ai-ieit Kharryngki was totally razed to the ground. However, nobody was injured in the incident.
A group of local villagers led by Staising Kharbteng today urged the authorities to provide immediate relief to the affected family.
Meanwhile, four houses and a shop were ravaged by storm today at Domsohkhai Nongnah village of South West Khasi Hills.
According to village secretary Kyrmen Kharryja, the storm accompanied by hails hit the area at around 1 am today.
The four houses belonged to Benhavestar Lyngkhoi, Diamond Nonglong, Oristar Langte and Lustida Paliar while the shop belonged to Kyrmen Kharryja.
The Gram Sevak of Ranikor Community and Rural Development Block has been informed about the incident.
