Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today told reporters that the state government has sent a reminder to the office of the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, on his proposed visit to Meghalaya.
“The Chief Minister has sent a reminder and we are awaiting a reply from the office of the Union Home Minister,” Tynsong told reporters.
In February, Shah had told Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Tynsong that he will visit Shillong for two days and meet stakeholders on the issue of the Inner Line Permit (ILP). This trip was expected in March, but the month is almost at an end and there is no sign of Shah.
Tynsong and Sangma had again tried to meet Shah in New Delhi recently but the latter was out of town.
When Shah visited Shillong on January 23 to inaugurate the plenary of the North Eastern Council, politicians and pressure groups were disappointed after he did not give them any time to hold discussions with him on the issue of implementing the ILP.
