The budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will take place from March 5 to 19.
Governor Satya Pal Malik will address the House on the first day of the session.
Seven days have been allotted for transaction of government businesses and four days for private members’ businesses.
The 11-day session is expected to be stormy with the opposition likely to raise issues such as the stalemate between commercial vehicle operators and the government, illegal transportation of coal, load shedding among others.
The debate on the Governor’s address will be held on March 8 and 10.
The Chief Minister will give his reply to the debate on the Governor’s address and motion of thanks on March 10. Government bills will be introduced on March 5.
There will also be question hour, motions, resolutions on private members’ days, call attention motion and zero hour notices.
The Budget Estimates for 2021-2022 will be presented by the Chief Minister on March 10
The Chief Minister will give his reply to the discussion on the budget on March 15. The budget will be passed on March 19 along with other government bills.
Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh today informed media persons that the progress for the construction of the new Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang is progressing well with the civil works almost completed.
Lyngdoh informed that the 15th Finance Commission has recommended around Rs 100 crores for the construction of Assembly building with an estimated budget of Rs 200 crores.
He also said that during his recent meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he had requested them to consider and approve all the recommendations made by the Finance Commission.
