Cabinet Minister Alexander L Hek today inaugurated the three-day Star Elite Pathway training camp at SAI, NEHU here today.
The camp is organised by the Meghalaya State Olympic Associations (MSOA), Arms PT- Edge10- Sportality Team in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs.
It may be mentioned that in view of the positive outcome from the Phase-I, the organisers have continued with Phase-II with a mandate to test 10,000 athletes at the C & RD Block level.
As on March 31, 2023 the MSOA, Arms PT- Edge10- Sportality Team has already conducted Talent ID test in 18 blocks.
Top 200 participants, 100 male and 100 female based on overall digital ranking from the talent identification program phase-I have been selected to be part of the one-year elite Pathway Program.
Speaking at the function Hek lauded the effort of the MSOA in organising the camp which will help local athletes of the State to excel in the field of sports. He also said that it is very encouraging to see the athletes taking part in the camp and hope that they will do well and live up to the expectation of the coaches.
The function was also attended by Chief Secretary Donald P Wahlang, Ian Campbell, a former Australian Olympian, Jesper Olsen, Director, Future Football (former Denmark World Cup Player), MSOA working president John Kharshiing and others.
