The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development at Upper Shillong welcomed the St Edmund’s College students and staff for an educational visit today.
Students observed the different phyto-resources, particularly the various types of orchid species available in the orchidarium.
The activities of sensitisation of the young minds was supported by the guidance and initiative of the Director of the IBSD, Prof Pulok K Mukherjee, who promoted awareness of local bio-resources and their utilisation towards sustainable development.
IBSD organises such visits to inculcate a scientific temperament among students in order for them to gain exposure to a research environment and motivate them to pursue research in various fields of life sciences and awareness about local bio-resources, a press release stated today.
