Students and teachers of St. Edmund’s College, Shillong today visited the Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Upper Shillong for their educational visit.
The students were made acquainted with different activities of the institute, research laboratories, scientific instruments and available local bio-resources particularly medicinal plants.
The activities of sensitisation of young minds of students is supported by the guidance and initiative of IBSD Director Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee to promote awareness of science and technology and their sustainable utilisation towards development of local bio-resources.
It may be mentioned that IBSD is organising such activities to inculcate scientific temperament among students to gain exposure to the research environment and motivate them to pursue research in various fields of life sciences and awareness about local bio-resources.
