Maw U-Tieng SC started their Shillong Sports Association Women’s League 2023 campaign off to a solid start with a 5-0 win over Synroplang 77 at the MFA Turf in Third Ground, Polo, here today.
In the early kick-off, in Group A, Kick Start Football Coaching Centre were involved in an action-packer yet ultimately goalless draw with Lawei Smit SC.
Although the match had its moments right through, arguably the highlight was a strong left-footer by Lawei’s Ionaris Khongsit in second half stoppage time that looked like it would squeeze into the net but Kick Start goalkeeper Patricia Lyngdoh Nonglait put in a brilliant dive to keep the ball out.
Later, Synroplang 77 and Maw U-Tieng went head to head in a Group B fixture. J Narlong (12’, 19’, 36’) recorded a hat-trick for Maw U-Tieng while the other goals were scored by R Dkhar (48’) and D Syngkli (61’).
Tomorrow will see two Group A matches – Umpling SC versus PFR Football Academy at 2:30pm and Mawkriah West SC against Laitkor SC at 4:15pm.
