Disappointed with the continuing delay in releasing eight months of salary arrears by the government, the All Garo Hills SSA School Teacher’s Association (AGHSSASTA) has announced a week-long boycott of classes from March 1.
“Our decision to protest comes from the frustration of submitting our petitions to the concerned authorities since 2017. Nothing has come of our requests till date and this has forced our hand,” AGHSSASTA informed through a press communiqué.
The teachers association, according to its statement, felt compelled to boycott regular classes on the issue of arrears as the government has not listened to multiple requests over the past four years.
“We are taking the serious route on the issue for the greater and larger interest of all SSA teachers,” the teachers informed.
