Shillong, Nov 27: Members of the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) today met with Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on various issues concerning the teachers.
MSSASA President Aristotle C. Rymbai said the minister assured that the government is collecting data on teachers’ service duration and aims to announce the SSA pay structure implementation before Christmas, with effects from April 2026.
On the Supreme Court’s Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) ruling, Rymbai said the department is prepared to conduct the test, but the minister raised concerns about in-service teachers’ eligibility and whether they can also appear in the TET.
He said that the Minister will visit Delhi next week to seek clarity from the Education Ministry.
The association also pushed for age relaxation for SSA teachers applying to government LP-UP schools. “The minister assured us to look into it after consulting other departments,” Rymbai added.
