In a big relief to SSA teachers in the state, the Meghalaya government has reconsidered the formers’ request to enhance their salary to the level of regular teachers in government schools.
Aristotle C Rymbai, President of the Meghalaya Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan School Association (MSSASA), today said that the Director of School Education and Literacy and State Project Director of the State Education Mission Authority of Meghalaya Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Ambrose Ch Marak, informed them that the government has considered the association’s demand on the salary structure.
“In a recent meeting between us and Marak … we were told that the Education Department has directed him to prepare a proposal on the SSA demand that will be presented before the executive committee of SEMAM-SSA, headed by the Chief Secretary as the Chairman and Principal Secretary of the Education Department as the Vice-Secretary,” Rymbai told the media.
He informed that once approval is obtained from SEMAM on this proposal, it will be sent to the Ministry of Education to get the approval of the project approval board.
“The Director told us that, based on the guidelines of the SSA and Education Department, the proposal will present before the executive committee in March,” he added.
SSA teachers have till now received an amount applicable to themselves but they have continuously demanded that their wages be brought on par with those of government school teachers.
Meanwhile, Rymbai also revealed that the state government has paid the pending salaries of the SSA teachers up to December 2020.
