The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers Association (AGHSSASTA) has questioned the non-release of two months salaries to SSA teachers under Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, despite the fact that the sanction for the same and the money was released more than a month ago.
According to the teachers, the payment of salaries for the months of March and April were released on May 25, with the teachers from other parts of the district receiving them a few weeks ago. However, for the entire Dadenggre area, the salaries are yet to be paid.
“It is now one month from the date of sanction and we are still to get our salaries,” stated AGHSSASTA (West Zone) through a press note.
The teachers added that one of the possible reasons for the delay in their salaries was the fact that there was no one taking care of the department in the sub division.
“There is no accountant and the salary is lying in the hands of the Joint DMC of the sub division. This failure to appoint an accountant for the SSA section is hurting us and compelling us to get through tremendous hardships, economically, physically and mentally. This is gross negligence,” said AGHSSASTA.
The teachers have now sought a permanent solution to this matter by the concerned authorities so that such acts are not perpetrated on them in the future as well.
“We teachers, particularly Selsella, Dadenggre and Tikrilkilla are in desperate need of our salaries,” they added.
