The Society for Promotion of Indigenous Knowledge and Practice (SPIKAP) has condoled the demise of traditional healer, Plosimai Mawkhiew and paid tributes to her for her contributions to providing health care the traditional way.
In a condolence message, the society said Mawkhiew is a dedicated healer who helped thousands of people in the Ri Khasi Jaiñtia Hills and her contribution, services and wisdom would be missed.
SPIKAP remembered Mawkhiew who accompanied them to a meeting with the then President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam in New Delhi in 2003. She had then presented the former President, Late Kalam with her herbal ointment, the society recalled.
