Meghalaya Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh on Tuesday informed that he is targeting to hold next year’s Budget Session in the new complex in Mawdiangdiang.
“We are making all attempts to see that the first Budget session will be in that new building,” the Assembly Speaker said.
Lyngdoh also stated that even though the target may not be achieved, he added, “There is no doubt why it should not be completed by next year.”
He also said that till date around 85 percent of construction in the main building has been completed.
Lyngdoh also informed reporters that civil work of the main building is more or less completed and the balance civil work is only the dome part which is part of the main hall.
“We are waiting for the main structure which is going to come and all the fabricated structure is ready in Kolkata. A team of engineers from the State visited the factory recently where this it is being made and it was found that everything was okay as per the specifications,” the Assembly Speaker said.
He also said that the dome will be reaching Shillong by end of July and then the installation of the dome will start. Lyngdoh also informed that as soon as the dome arrives, it will be fitted immediately.
“We are targeting to erect the dome by end of August,” the Speaker added.
He also said that the main building will also house the Speaker’s room, the Chief Minister’s room, the Minister’s room, conference hall, canteen, chambers of the Assembly secretariat and also the other rooms related to the Assembly.
