Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh has asked the government to review its decision to set up casino in the State.
In a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma following his meeting with the church leaders, Lyngdoh said there is widespread apprehension and displeasure from across different political leaders, religious bodies and NGOs on the government’s decision to set up casino.
“I am also of the opinion to express that the views and concerns raised by the church body should be taken seriously by the government in the interest of the general public and the state,” the Speaker said.
He said in the light of the concerns and observations made by the Khasi Jaiñtia Church Leaders Forum the government could review its decision.
