Joining the global celebration of ‘Earth Day’ today with this year’s theme “Invest in Our Planet”, the underprivileged children at SPARK too participated in the event with much enthusiasm acknowledging the urgent need of restoring our Earth by investing in our Planet through sustainable practices.
Protecting the environment and safeguarding our Earth has always remained an important activity at all the centres of SPARK, sensitising the children on its importance and necessity thereby making the children involved in it every week.
A special programme was organised by SPARK to observe the Earth Day, whereby the children took the pledge to safeguard our Earth and protect it through various activities at their capacity comprising of tree plantation, energy conservation, turning off lights and water taps and limiting its use, recycle, reduce and reuse of papers, etc, and stop harming the nature and work towards its restoration from the damages already done to it.
Thereafter the children planted trees, watered the plants and carried out a cleaning drive at different areas. The programme was held at Mawlong-Umsawli village, Mawlynrei Trianshnong village, Rangmen village and Iewduh slum as well.
