Marking the birth anniversary of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Azad, SPARK Shillong observed the “National Education Day” with the prime objective of promoting education for the underprivileged section of the society with major thrust on children and women.
The day was observed today at Iew Mawlong slum, Mawlynrei, Mawlong, Pongkung and Rangmen.
Acknowledging the importance of education, SPARK was initiated in 2010 with an objective to “Make Education a Reality for Every Child” by setting up educational centres within the doorsteps of the children in various areas and localities with the concept “If Children cannot go to school then school should come to the children”.
Through this initiative, children, women and community are provided free education since 2010 benefiting more than 8000 people till date thereby empowering them through knowledge and capacity building.
