Williamnagar gets new blood bank
East Garo Hills got a new blood bank today. The facility was opened by local MLA, Marcuise Marak, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe. With the opening of the blood bank, the residents of East Garo Hills will not have to travel to other districts for blood transfusions. An appeal to come forward and donate blood was also made by the DC.
Dead body unclaimed
An unidentified male patient (70) was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital on May 27 and passed away on May 31. He had been brought to the hospital by ambulance from near Anjalee Point.
Relatives of the deceased have been requested to claim the body from the hospital morgue immediately, failing which it will be disposed of by the Shillong Municipal Board.
Wine shops, bars, warehouses to remain shut
Wine shops, bonded warehouses, bars and other locations where alcohol is served are to remain shut in East Khasi Hills “until further orders”. This was announced by the Deputy Commissioner (Excise). Home delivery, however, is permitted by wine shops with a home delivery licence and valid passes for staff.
