The non-existence of a postal office in the Laban area is a problem for the residents of one of the largest and most densely populated neighbourhoods of Shillong.
Even though a post office pin code for Laban exists, there has not been a post office in the area for the last two years.
Speaking to Highland Post recently on the sidelines of a programme organised by the General Post Office (GPO), an official said that they are trying to find suitable accommodation to set up a post office for the Laban branch.
A Laban branch exists but it is currently functioning from the main GPO. As soon as a suitable location can be finalised, the branch will move to Laban.
