Editor,
Can a referee blow the final whistle in a football match while watching the VAR? If he does, it would be a ridiculous incident even though it happened during the stoppage time. The referee is supposed to take a decision whether a player was offside or not before the end of the match. Similarly, the Election Commission should complete the SIR in West Bengal before declaring the polls. The EC has put more than sixty lakh voters under the adjudication. If the EC fails to complete the verification before the polls, then it should give those voters the benefit of the doubt and temporarily allow them to exercise their franchise in this year’s election.
